This New Year starts "CLEANING HOUSE"

Starting the New Year with Energy and Vision!

Putting on my Apron and CLEANING UP!   Who want's to wake up to a mess?

Balancing   life is a full time task

The Theme for    for 2012  is  "CLEANING HOUSE "

Physically, Mentally and Spiritually

I choose to   clean up my body!
Remove and replace what may be flowing through me that is toxic.  Then Strength my body by "EXERCISE"  - go ahead Say it out loud.... It's a scary word but it'll heal you when you "do it".

And  then I need to Clean up my Spiritual House - go through all the closet's and drawers where I "may" be storing resentments, disappointments and fears and BAG IT UP and give it to the Lord. AND NOT TAKE IT BACK!  LET IT GO! for heaven sakes

Then I want to Clean up my "MIND" oh... yes....
Take the Files in my Brain that contain Incorrect information I have stored away.
I need to throw away a lot of old "files" and replace them with files that contain truth.  Then choose to only allow thoughts that are True, lovely and of good report to be filed away.

Well,  Let me say Buona Fortuna to You this new year!  May 2012 be an amazing transforming year.

Ciao

HOW TO CLEANSE MY SYSTEM WITH DietS

How to Cleanse my System With Diet

Much of our modern food supply exposes you daily to preservatives, extra sodium and sugar, pesticides and colorings. A cleansing diet intends to help rid your system of these offending items. You do not have to ingest supplements, magical drink concoctions or starve yourself to detoxify.
Use simple diet strategies to help you cleanse your system.

Step 1

Eliminate caffeine and alcohol. Stick to water or herbal teas for the duration of your cleanse. Flavor water with slices of cucumber, fresh mint, lemon or lime.

Use fruits and vegetables for the foundation of your cleansing diet. Choose primarily watery varieties like dark green lettuce, sweet peppers, zucchini, asparagus, spinach, melons, apples, berries and kale.  Eat generous portions of these foods at every meal.

Step 3

Buy organic produce if possible as conventionally grown produce may contain pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers and chemicals that can be harmful to your body notes Raw and Living Foods.

Step 4

Eat small amounts of lean protein. Stick to fish and poultry for most meals, as even the Harvard School of Public Health notes these are the best choices for animal-based proteins. Opt for vegetarian protein sources like sprouted beans and soaked almonds--sprouting and soaking makes foods more readily digestible says Christine Dreher, C.C.N., C.C.H, on TransformYourHealth.com.

Step 5

Consume whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, millet and amaranth. Avoid commercial breads and pre-seasoned grain mixes.

Step 6

Avoid all sugars, except those naturally occurring in fruit. Skip processed candies, cookies and cakes. Eat dates if you must satisfy a sweet tooth.

Tips and Warnings

  • You can undergo a healthy dietary cleanse for as long as you like.
  • Be sure to take in a minimum of 1,200 calories per day as a woman or 1,500 as a man for nutritional support says Medline Plus.
  • Check with your doctor before beginning a cleanse.

Have  you ever had one of those days?

The kind where you feel so unsettled and a little irritable (ok... cranky).

Take a DEEP BREATH

The Nurse is in (self treating myself this morning)

Close your eye's (as I'm doing right now) and slowing breathe asking some important questions
that reach into the

THREE area's of your life.

Physically:   What did you eat yesterday?  Refined sugars can lead to depression
     and reduce immunity
Ok, so I tried to make some healthy oatmeal cookies with flax seed.  Ah, Crap... I know better than     that!  I used White and Brown Sugar.   This  COULD be part of the problem.

When did I last exercise?   Yikes.... I've been a little "lax" about that.  Excuse of running around.   Hey, how's my bowels (ok, ya think that's funny but Constipation can alter your well being and health)

this Holiday season... shopping, cleaning, wrapping...
I need to put this(exercise) on my Christmas"
to
do list".                                                                                                                                           TAKE CARE OF ME TOO!

How about possible Vitamin deficiencies?   A lack of Vit B's can contribute to irritability.  Hummm

Ok,  Need to Eat HEALTHY and Exercise today!

Mentally:    What issues are currently on my plate? WOW, that's a long laundry list!
Yap, I having some things up in the air, stressful relationships.... money issues, life issues
    ah

Ok.... "Allora" as they say in Italy

Do you see the connection?   Is it the Chicken or the Egg?  When your out of sorts "Feeling Stressed and Irritable"  is it because you're lacking Vitamins, Minerals.... Needing to Exercise to Free up and loosen up!  Pent up energy?

Or is that your stressed mentally and making poor eating choices and too messed up to take care of yourself?

Next....

Spiritually:  Oh for heaven's sakes.  This MUST be put in check when "we're feeling out of
sorts!".   Why is this the LAST thing we think of?

Really, Truly, Honestly the Spiritual part of our
life is the Foundation of our Being.

There is a possibility that our Heart is being VEXED with a spiritual battle.  Maybe a subliminal trigger was heard, seen or felt that is causing this "unsettled feeling".

As it's said in the "GODFATHER" movie.  TAKE IT TO THE MATT and do some spiritual fighting.
Ask the Lord  "what's up?"  "what is coming against me trying to pull me down?"

Ask yourself are your thoughts coming from FEAR?

I have to remember that unforgiveness, resentments, disappointment are ALL rooted in  FEAR!

If your thoughts are blossoming from FAITH than you'll be producing lovely, truthful, patient thoughts.  AHHHH HA!   There you go, having to really think about where you are spiritually.

SO,  here is what I choose to do today to combat this "unsettled irritable - almost cranky me".

I'm going to physically right now do 25 jumping jacks (which still takes my breath away)
then drink a big glass of WATER!  (I already had my vit C/Kyo green shake this morning with apple and an orange)
Then I will change my mental thoughts to conform with God's Word (need to get a scripture for warfare).
Yes, while I do those jumping jacks I'll exercise my mind and spirit by speaking HIS word and Asking for HIS HELP!

Ok,  Allora!

That's all folks

Ciao

Late Entry (this is what is say as Nurses in the Charting world when we add a "sub note" later)
After completing this blog, it was an amazing release of energy and the "irritability feeling" vanished.  I will OF COURSE, thank God for his Goodness and faithfulness to hear me and heal me.

Just say NO or Have a Serious Talk!

I just recently found out   that my cousin was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Our Family has already lost two precious women to Breast Cancer.

My response....  A Serious Committed Talk with God!

The God who created the Heavens and the Earth.  The God who loved us so much that he willingly gave his only Son to die for our sins.    His Son, Jesus who willingly gave his life to suffer a brutal death for our sins....  He is the same Yesterday, Today and Forever... therefore, HE still  preforms miracles today and heals today.  I believe it and Claim it!

It was my decision to commit to Prayer and Fasting every Wednesday night
(No dinner and no Food after 6 pm)  My time for my Serious Talk with GOD!

I wanted to make sure I understood how and why Fasting is important.
This  wonderful article (excerpt from a book) about Prayer and Fasting was found.
Click here: Link to Fasting and Prayer

As I read it I found that it relates to my blog about Weight Management and our  Relationship with FOOD!   I've always struggled "fasting" as part of getting a handle on my Weight and Health.
The moment I said to my self that I am going to fast... I have HUNGER PANGS!

This Article has a mention of how food can be our "temptation and weakness".

There is a mention of how a Piece of  Pie
"calls out to us"
until we give in and EAT IT!

Remember the show Laugh In  ... where Flip Wilson would say "the devil made me do it"

Funny (but not really), I struggle with not eating after 6 pm (mindless snacking at night) but tonight  (Wednesday night to fast and pray for my cousin)... I had NO PROBLEM,  even as I made my husband a delicious dinner with some of my favorite foods.

WHY?  because I had a PURPOSE!

It makes me think that our ability to discipline ourselves
(making healthy food choices and resisting mindless eating)
is really a spiritual struggle.

Some how,  my desire for being healthy is at times not as strong as my desire for immediate gratification like a  Piece of Pie!   YIKES!

We resist saying no to ourselves.

We spoil ourselves !
 HOW?
By not wanting to say NO to ourselves.

Ok,  so the truth is ......We're fat and out of shape because we can't say NO TO OUR SELF.

So ..... I had very little problem saying NO to food when I had a Greater purpose than ME.

When I turned my focus from my need
to the need of someone else.

W o w.....

anyway,  I hope you take the time to read the article about Fasting.

So many people talk about the Health Benefits of Fasting but miss the REAL TRUE PURPOSE and Beauty of a Fast.

Salute!  Here is to Fasting for...... Health and Wellness,
                                             Spiritually, Physically & Mentally

The Sweet Life or A teaspoon of Depression

Sabotaging weight loss:  SUGAR

When you indulge (yes, indulge) in a piece of pie, Chocolate Sweets, Bowl of Ice Cream you set yourself up for a Possible downward spiral.

You say, "oh, just one piece won't hurt".

But, ahhhhh  how often are you honest that the one piece doesn't roll into another piece... and then move into saying "it's ok..... I'll exercise tomorrow".

This goes beyond "will power".
You've set in motion a chemical reaction when you "indulge"
in a little something sweet.

This chemical reaction alters the balance in your brain and body
and.... You WILL seek out more sugar

"Mr Wilson,  May I be excused? My Brain is full"

Have you ever had a "sugar hang over"?  Would you recognize it?

"Oh, I'm so tired today..."
 or

"Oh, I'm feeling so emotional and I don't know why",
or
"Oh, my body just aches today"
or
"Oh, my mind is so foggy, I just can seem to focus"

or
"I don't know why but I feel so depressed today"

Now, I'm not so bold as to say there are not other reasons for these symptoms, only to say "IT COULD BE A SUGAR HANG OVER" or Sugar withdrawals.

Change your mental picture of "Sugar" (processed sugars).

If you saw  a teaspoon of sugar no different that a teaspoon of cocaine... would you ingest it?  Yikes.... I hope not.  But  for some reason we won't allow ourselves to think of something sweet and pleasant as sugar as a type of drug.
(News Flash: The billion dollar food industry pedals drugs!)

Refined SUGAR IS A DRUG in our BODY!

Don't you see that the HIGH of eating Sugar and how it alters your mood (temporarily)   leads to debilitation symptoms?

SUGAR  plays havoc on your health and well being.

Your relationship with Sugar can lead to Depression!

I say all this because I experienced quite a set back... the "oh, a little piece won't hurt" turned into me eating the WHOLE FREAKING BAG OF COOKIES!

It's taken day's to get back on track.... it truly altered my mood, energy level, my motivation to exercise, make healthy choices...

I had a re-awaking to  how Amazing it is to "BE HEALTHY"  and FEEL HEALTHY when I eating wholesome nutritious FOODS!

Come on... be honest.  Dieting is NOT just about will power.

When you shoot up your body with Sugar your body responds by CRAVING more SUGAR!  It's a chemical cascade!

Then your MIND say.... "oh, no... I won't, I shouldn't... but I will"

It's  because this pure white substance is like a drug... no stop... go back...
This pure white substance IS A DRUG IN OUR BODY and we can become addicted or an habitual user.

So, re think  your relationship is with S U G A R ?

We think it is. We have enough scientific evidence now to tell us that we can train ourselves to crave, to build tolerance and to experience withdrawal when we ingest a lot of refined sugar.
These are the hallmarks of addiction. Craving, tolerance and withdrawal.
Dr. Serge Ahmed, of Bordeaux, France, has been working with rats and giving them the choice between cocaine and sugar. Guess what wins, time and again? That's right, sugar.
The sweet taste of sugar is more rewarding than the high of cocaine.
Some people know they are sugar addicts and cannot handle it at all. They know because they can't stop eating it once they start. They crave sugary foods and they need more and more to feel satisfied.
They also experience withdrawal if they stop eating sugar.
We believe this is because of the effect sugar has on the brain. Sugar, like drugs of abuse, produces dopamine in the brain. The body's own happy, feel good, chemical. For some true sugar addicts, they need this to feel OK. When they eat sugar, they feel good. When it wears off, they need more. If they stop sugar for a period of time, their brains will begin to produce dopamine on their own. This takes some time, however. The problem lies in the fact that much of our default food is high in refined sugar and carbohydrates. Trying to avoid it, is very difficult. That combined with the discomfort of withdrawal, keeps many sugar addicts trapped in their addiction.

Link to information on "SUGAR"
Processed white sugar is an addictive chemical (Sheppard, 1993). Processed sugars such as white, powdered, brown, molasses, and even honey have had some or all of their chemical bonds broken down between their basic components due to the amount of processing . Processed sugars present as a simple potent sugar which is easily and quickly absorbed by the body.

Processed sugars and carbohydrates, which turn into sugar, cause a rise in the insulin level of the blood. This also raises the endorphins level, a natural mood upper in the brain. These sugars causes the body to have a chemical high, mentally, which results in a lift in mood.

Continuous large doses of sugar and/or carbohydrates, overtime, usually cause the brain's endorphins sites to slow production or close sites to regulate the amount of endorphins in the brain. When the body cuts back on endorphin production it reduces the amount of endorphins available in the body at any given time. The lack of enough endorphin in the brain causes slight to deep depression

The difference between fructose, that is the natural sugar in fruit, and processed sugars is that fructose still has its chemical bonds intact. This causes the body to take a longer period of time to break down the different chemical bonds. As the body dissolves each type of sugar it is releases a moderate amount of sugar over time. This gives a continuous energy boost to the body and a slightly elevates mood (Whitney, Cataldo, & Rolfes, 1991).

Chemical sugar substitutes are not good substitutes for processed sugar. They, like the processed sugars retard the body's ability to lose weight. They stimulate the body's metabolism to crave more sweets (Baker & Baker, 1987; Rememington & Parent, 1983).
