Who has the ANSWER? Hand raised up saying "me, me"

John 14:6

 6 Jesus answered,

“I am the way and the truth and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 8:12

 12Then spake
Jesus again unto them, saying,
I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.

When we wake up in the morning more concerned with "feeding" our Spirit than feeding our face..... That's power!

When we choose to change lifestyle choices to reflect balance.... That's powerful!

When we choose to "continually" renew our mind

to be transformed and not conformed

 We're truly living in Victory.

As I was triaging a patient who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia
the other day, it was enlightening to me, once again what I was hearing.

No one "chooses" to be ill.  But the majority of illnesses are due to lifestyle Choices
About 47 million adults in the United States (almost 25 percent) have metabolic syndrome, and the number continues to grow. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/ms/ms_all.html

Stats show that 80% of illnesses seen in the Doctors offices are due to lifestyle choices.

Without getting into more stats, documentation and effort on my part (ha)... here is my point.

When I hear people talk about "  losing weight".... my response it Keep it "balanced"

FIRST:   Seek the answer in our instruction manual- The Bible!
Why and how did  your body become.... to put it direct "fat"
That's the first thing to do.   As in Nursing, we acknowledge the symptom - than
look to find the "cause" of the symptom.

          Being Overweight is a symptom,
PURE AND SIMPLE.

SECOND:  After it's acknowledged that being overweight is a symptom.
Take responsibility for the lifestyle choices you have made in the past and
                  choose to change those choices.

THIRD:  Make a goal and then Develop  the Plan
(all this is how we go about dealing with    an illness in a patient)

The success is in both your level of awareness of the problem and your determination is to take responsibility

So, getting back to the person dealing with fibromyalgia.  I not suggesting I have a miracle cure.  I am suggesting that when a person becomes balanced in their lives, they have a better chance of increasing the quality of life with this diagnosis or any other diagnosis.

The framework for my suggestion to any patient dealing with an illness
(mental or physical)

1.  Acknowledge how your are made and who made you, and why you were made, and what your purpose for living is....  FEED and EXERCISE your spiritual Man every morning!

2.  Acknowledge your body's needs for vitamins, proteins and minerals.  Fibers, fruits, vegetables and clean source of proteins,  (I choose as much a possible- ORGANIC)
Balance the choices of foods and the portions of what you eat.  Be responsible to know
what your eating, why your eating, when your eating, how your eating!

3.  Acknowledge your body's need for exercise and activities.  Not just pumping iron or doing aerobics.  Then mind body connection of activity!   FEED your body Fresh air, sunshine and activity.  Exercise that heart muscle with aerobic exercises.  Reduce the cholesterol level with  10,000 steps.  Increase your bone density with using weights.
Detox your body with expanding your lungs - breathing deep!

4. Acknowledge your body's need for healthy thinking, thoughts.  Take responsibility for what you FEED YOUR MIND.  Make healthy choices by what you choose to watch on TV, movies... what you choose to read, listen to.  What you choose to expose your mind to is the difference between a life full of hope, truth and light and one who lives in darkness, despair and disappointments.

I think I'll hang up my own "shingle".... the Nurse is IN.

Gotta Run

The Stairs of life

Some day's are just plain crazy and stressful.  Circumstances and Situations that we didn't ask for or create.

This thought came to me as I was talking a walk on a very "glorious and beautiful" morning.  As I came to an area of my walk that has about a gazillion steps up and back down.... I noticed that on my way down the steps I had to  concentration was watching my feet on the steps.  (Many Emergency room visits are because of falling down stairs).
Although I didn't want to hold on to the rail (Lord knows what disgusting germs are inhabiting the hand rail, another health risk) I had my hand ready to grab on. It suddenly dawned on me that   I was unable to enjoy the fantastic view in front of me unless I stopped to look up.

I then drew the analogy from walking down the Stairs.... (as I often do.... )

"Analogies prove nothing, that is true" wrote Sigmund Freud,
"but they can make one feel more at home.

On our journey through this life of ours, we at times are faced with "stairs"... aka challenges (a positive way to say stress).

Stairs challenges:

Our Body because they take an increased energy and strength.  Just walking up several fights of stairs causes our leg muscles to burn, and our heart has to pump  harder to pull in more oxygen to meet the demand of our muscles...  the increased need for the oxygen can sometimes our lungs to feel like they too like the muscles are burning... A lot of physical manifestations of our challenge.

Our Mind has to concentrate, although we may believe we're thinking about something else, listening to our ipod ... sub consciously our eye's and ears and touch are sending messages to our mind to keep us from falling.

Our Spirit.... dah!  again.... I go back to this concern... what's our spirit doing during this challenge?  We, as spirits are  always in a state of being, without consciously being aware of  this and what is  happening in us and around us. Unknowingly our Spirit is always "active".

The Stairs represent our challenges and our ability to handle the stairs is our condition, Physically, Mentally and Spiritually.

But more importantly in my thinking about this is the fact that the Stairs are a distraction.

We need to focus "the  stairs" when we have to use them.
(Are you always looking for the elevator? Sorry,  but the fact of life is sometimes you have to take the stairs)

We are sometimes hit from all sides with challenges and changes.  Illnesses, conflicts in relationships,  financial issues... whatever.  No escape from conflicts and challenges.

Walking "THE STAIRS of LIFE" can take us from enjoying the beauty around us.
They can be a difficult and painful time in our life.

BUT, as I said

I then STOPPED took a deep cleansing breath while walking down those stairs and  LOOKED UP and took in a brief moment to enjoy the sights and sounds and fragrances that surrounded me.  And for that brief moment, I   lost thought  and sensations of my burning muscles ... And  then had a chance to whisper in my Spirit.... words of gratitude, thoughts of Praise for my Creator... I became lost in that moment. I felt then refreshed to continue.
Knowing no matter what was happening AROUND ME...
I was able to get in touch with what we happening IN ME!

Physically
Mentally
Spiritually

Keeping my goal of Feeding and Exercising  and Balancing "ME"

You CAN NOT help others if your  ill, unbalanced, weary, unhappy, angry, resentful, unforgiving, judgemental, critical,lazy.....

When your Balanced,  healthy, energized, happy, satisfied, tolerant, forgiving, non-judgemental, positive, focused on goals....

YOU ARE HEALTHY and WELL to help others.
You can take on the Stairs of Life.... You can BALANCE!

Take care of YOU so you can take care of OTHERS and therefore Others will not be burdened with taking care of YOU because YOU don't take care of YOURSELF!
There... I said it (now I have to re-read what I said, cuz I kind of confused myself...)

Stop making excuses that You can't STOP on the Stairs of LIFE to take a deep breath... refocus and HONOR yourself by eating healthy, exercising and feeding your mind and Spirit healthy ideas and thoughts (the Bible is the "bread of life").

I can't turn back the hands of time, I can't live tomorrow today....
I can only capture the moment and seize the opportunity I am IN.

Now .....Stop, close your eye's and have a "little" talk with yourself.... (oh, and a little "Talk with Jesus" too)

Ciao

Got some Procrastination?

"Whatever your hand finds to do,

do it with your might;

for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom

in the grave where you are going."

Only put off until tomorrow what you
are willing to die having left undone.

Pablo Picasso

Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.

Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no delay, no procrastination; never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.Lord Chesterfield

Procrastination is the fear of success. People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success that they know will result if they move ahead now.
Because success is heavy, carries a responsibility with it, it is much easier to procrastinate and live on the 'someday I'll' philosophy.
Denis Waitley

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"
The attempt is the "courage to be", and our well-being depends
on our moving forward with this courage in our lives

They are WAITING for you!

Go to the Well and draw Water for Life

The thought of the women at the well.

No, not the typical story (wonderful as that is) about Jesus coming to the women at the well...

John 4:13

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them
will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

ahhhh  the well.  The Source of Water.... the well that holds water that sustains life.

How careful and responsible would you be if your only source for water was a well that you were in charge of taking care of?

It would only take a drop of  a lethal chemical  to ruin the whole well of water!  Hopefully, you'd never allow waste, trash... to be dropped into the well ... you'd be so careful to protect the water from becoming polluted.  After all, once the water is contaminated... certain illness and death would happen from drinking water from that well.

Same truth when it comes to our body, mind and spirit.   It's a responsibility to not contaminate our mind, body and spirit with pollutants... chemicals, garbage.... lies, gossip...
anger.... un-forgiveness.. resentments... fats, sugars, ... processed foods...fruits and vegetables laced with pesticides.... hormone feed meats...

Simple truths.... So why does it happen?
We've been blinded by _______ (you can add in the words).  Because we seek "that which brings us immediate pleasure"  and

Garbage and poisons are packaged in up like a beautifully wrapped Christmas gift under the tree.  We "stupid.... sheep" are lead to the slaughter... because we are caught up in deception and lust.  It's easy to choose laziness... takes no effort.

Think about how amazing  sweets and candies  "looks"...  ahhhh the pastries that you hear people say "are to die for".... That's the truth.

Think about how unforgiveness and anger looks to us... packaged up in "justice" .... surrounded by ribbons of "how dare someone do this to me.."

Think about how attractively the  fancy wrapping is on "self help... self improvement programs...  new age philosophies" .. the contents of these things are an attempt to rob us of a Real relationship with our Creator and Savior.... to make us our own Gods of the Universe.  A certain Spiritual Death.  An futile journey.

So today I say "Go organic"....

Fill up on Foods and Thoughts that are pure.... void of pesticides and lies.  Environmental illnesses are on the rise.  And people like sheep are having their souls lead to the slaughter.  True?

Fill your Body, Mind and Spirit ....
"fill yourself up" and produce the fruits of your choices
